A successful Platinum Jubilee celebration
On Saturday 4th June Stroud Village and Residents Association hosted our Platinum Jubilee party. It was wonderful to see so many people gather at the village hall for the event. The village hall looked spectacular with bunting, flags and balloons. We had lots of volunteers to help cook local sausages and burgers on the barbecue, which was very popular. Luckily the sun was shining, so adults could enjoy a glass of Pimms in the sunshine. There were plenty of craft activities; decorating crowns, making Union Jack flags, making bunting and designing royal cakes. There was a face painter for the younger children; they all looked brilliant!
The bake off competition entries were all fantastic. The judge, Mrs. Angela Snow, had a very tough job choosing winners of the adults and children’s categories-so much so that we had to have two winners for each category! Prizes were a bottle of bubbly for the adults and a hamper for the kids. Once the winners had been announced, everyone enjoyed the cakes, making donations to the Rosemary Foundation. Well done to all of the bakers-there were some amazing entries. The freshly baked scones were very popular-thank you to all those who baked especially for the event.
Under 12 Category First Prize: Corgi-licious Jubilee – Miss Sienna Newland
Standard Category First Prize: Triple Mess – Mrs. Ony Rogers
As well as the delicious food and drinks on offer, there were commemorative Jubilee mugs for sale which were very popular. Thank you to Morgan’s butchers for fulfilling our barbecue order, and Durleighmarsh Farm for their strawberries. Thank you also to everyone who helped on the day-from arranging flowers for the table decorations to washing up and making cups of tea-it was very much appreciated.
We hope everyone enjoyed the party, it was so great to see so many residents enjoying the sunshine and celebrating the Platinum Jubilee .
