January News
This month at the village hall we will be focusing on our plans for the coming year. This is an exciting time as we discuss ideas for 2025 and provides lots of opportunities for local residents to get involved.
You may not be aware that Stroud Village Hall is a charity, and it relies on a combination of bookings, events and other fundraising activities. Much of this is achieved by a small team of dedicated volunteers. Many of the current cohort have worked very hard for the past five years and understandably now feel that it is time to take a step back, so we are looking for new volunteers to join the team.
There are various ways that you can get involved. In particular, we are looking for new Trustees to join our current small and friendly team. I often hear concerns about the amount of time required or perceived financial burden. However, the Board of Trustees only meets once every other month and our incorporated status means that Trustees are not personally liable financially.
Another way to get involved is to help with our fundraising events. We have an active committee who organise the annual Stroud Revels each July, but we are also looking to bring together a new group of volunteers to organise other events at the hall. So far, we have had requests for Burns Night celebrations, barn dances and children’s quizzes! To find out more, please email Katy at [email protected] or call 07915 092660.
Finally, a special thank you to everyone who joined us at the Christmas Gathering. A great time was had by all! The fabulous Ukes of Hazard kept us entertained, carols were sung, and there was enough food to feed a small army!
Do join us for our New Year Quiz on Friday 24th January. Tickets cost £15 and include a fish & chip supper. Full details can be found on our events page
