January 2025 Update
Stroud Community Garden January Update
We in Stroud are very fortunate that we have a beautiful village hall with modern facilities and a busy events committee who are constantly looking for new ideas to promote such a venue. We also benefit from a large garden wrapped around the hall which at the moment has young trees and hedges, now established, and a large lawn in the centre. We are now concentrating on bringing some colour into the mix.
Last summer, we cleared a large weed filled area and transformed it into the most beautiful wild garden. Then one unseasonably warm autumn day saw our first bulb planting event involving many families from the area who planted hundreds of bulbs; we were then rewarded with homemade cakes and drinks. Throughout the seasons the grounds are maintained by a small group of volunteers who are keen to welcome anyone who has an idea how to utilise such a lovely space. Our future plans involve planting fruit trees, creating vegetable plots and more seating.
If you or your children would like to have an input as to what you would like to see in your village community centre, please do get in touch with Katy:
