Volunteering in the Community Garden
Volunteering in the community garden is a wonderful way to give back to the village, meet new people, and spend time in nature. Here are some of the questions we are most often asked:
Q. Do I need any experience?
Short answer: no! Whether you are a novice gardener or have years of experience, everyone is welcome. You’ll be part of a team and full training will be given.
Q. Can my children get involved?
We welcome gardeners of all ages. Children are very welcome to join in, but they will need their grown‑up to sign up too, and must be supervised at all times while in the garden. We are also keen to start a children’s gardening club in future, so do let us know if you would be interested in helping to run this.
Q. What sort of jobs will I be doing?
There are a variety of seasonal tasks to get involved with — from joining the fortnightly mowing rota to weeding and planting.
Q. How much time does it require?
You can give as much or as little time as you like. The gardening team tends to meet once every three months to plan upcoming jobs and allocate tasks, but there is no pressure to take on everything. We also welcome new ideas.
Q. How do I sign up?
If you’d like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. Just email the Hall Manager at [email protected] and they’ll connect you with the gardening team. You can also follow our Community Garden blog to see what we’ve been working on and get a feel for the kinds of projects you might enjoy.
