Stroud Revels 30th July 2022 at New Buildings Farm
The fine weather was welcomed last Saturday at the annual village fete run by Stroud Village hall and Residents Association at New Buildings Farm courtesy of Mark and Fiona Rowden. Over 400 came through the gate during the course of the 7 hour event.
Just before proceedings kicked off, the annual graduation for the Old Dairy Farm Nursery took place. Children’s entertainment ensued, including a lively craft area, face painting , The Lovely Bubbly Show, Jumping Jacks Bouncy Castle and TJ’s Rodeo Bull Bucking Bronco, the latter three appearing to be of as much interest to adults.
Refreshment was provided by The Focaccia Company, Simply Hog Roast and Ground Café with the Revels’ own Charlie’ s Baa (sic) run by Charlie Rogers.
A central focus was provided by a Tug Of War competition, ably run by Sam Bye and won by the BBQ Boys team following some exhausting bouts with other local teams. Youngsters team Pork Burgers won the younger category.
Live music commenced with a lively and well executed performance from young band Electric Influence including villager Isla Fanshawe on drums. The Estelles later took the party dancing into the night with their expansive high energy playlist of Motown covers.
The day was another great success and plans are already afoot for next year’s event.
