Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate at our Christmas Gathering in December 2024. This was a free event aimed at bringing local people together to celebrate the festive season with friends and neighbours.
Entertainment was provided by the fabulous Ukes of Hazard who got guests singing along to some Christmas classics! Carols were sung round the Christmas tree, and a big thank to Coombes and Stroudmead Storage for their generous donations towards our Christmas trees. Another big thank you must go to trustee, Glen Wellstead, for doing such a wonderful job decorating the hall with many of her own handmade decorations. We were grateful that local vicar, Susie, from Steep could also pop by to celebrate with us.
The table was groaning under the weight of the food brought along for the ‘bring & share buffet’, and Charlie’s Baa kept the drinks flowing. What a wonderful way to celebrate the season and remember how fortunate we are to live in such a special place.
We recognise that Christmas can be a tricky time of year for those facing loneliness and other life challenges, and one of the big aims of the Social Committee is to reduce social isolation in our parish. Free events such as the Christmas Gathering are the perfect opportunity to both bring people together and to have a great time doing it! If you’d like to help organise similar events to help improve the lives of people living locally then please do get in touch with our Hall Manager at [email protected] We’d love to hear from you!
