Community Garden – A Year in Review
A look back over the past twelve months in the Community Garden from April 2025 to March 2026.
Our small team of local volunteers work hard to keep the gardens looking beautiful for the benefit of the whole community.
Over the past twelve months the team has:
- Installed new raised vegetable beds
- Planted new fruit trees
- Created a seating area by the stream with handwoven willow fence
- Planted spring bulbs
- Sown the wildflower patch (twice!)
- Established a regular rota for mowing, weeding and pruning to keep the gardens at their best.
We also received a grant of £2,000 from South East Water for the Community Garden. The funds were put towards a new metal storage shed to house tools and equipment, as well as the raised vegetable beds and new fruit trees. The plan for the remaining funds is to purchase some water butts for the garden in preparation for the summer. Thank you South East Water!

Plans for the coming year include:
- Project planned with local Beavers group to create a children’s vegetable patch and a new bug hotel to encourage multi-generational use of the gardens.
- More hedgerows as a haven for wildlife
- New water butts to help make the garden more sustainable
- Relocate compost heap to a more permanent location
Volunteers Welcome
The Community Garden was established to provide an accessible green space at the heart of the village for everyone to enjoy.
