Our talented social committee organised yet another fun filled communityevent at the Village Hall on Sunday, 30th October 2022. They drenched the hall in festive Halloween décor, some photo props, fun Halloween music and colourful disco lighting!
It was rewarding to see so many taking part in apple bobbing, crafting, tattoos, doughnut challenge, a scavenger hunt, treats and more. The kids were very happy when they managed to get hold of an apple with their teeth and not get too wet. I even saw a cheeky adult or two going for the doughnut challenge when the kids weren’t looking! Lots of laughs had by all!
The community this night consisted of skeletons and witches, super heroes and villains, zombies, pirates, vampires and even an assassin! Some of the adults even did their part showing up in fancy dress (way to get into the “spirit”)!
The children enjoyed their picnic lunches and the adults were able to quench their thirst at the bar. We saw many people come down purely to enjoy the festive atmosphere and chat with the neighbours. See some of the photos below… and join us next Halloween! see some photos here
I hope everyone has had a lovely summer and look forward to welcoming you back for the autumn term.

What a great success the Revels was this year. With some fabulous food choices, a Tug of War, Bucking Bronco, bouncy castle, face painting, bubbleman show and superior bands in the evening, everyone finished the day happy and tired. The Petersfield Post had a full writeup with photos in their 3rd August edition and our own Lionel Fanshawe has written an article, with photos here! https://stroudvillagehall.org/stroud-revels-2022/

On Saturday 4th June Stroud Village and Residents Association hosted our Platinum Jubilee party. It was wonderful to see so many people gather at the village hall for the event. The village hall looked spectacular with bunting, flags and balloons. We had lots of volunteers to help cook local sausages and burgers on the barbecue, which was very popular. Luckily the sun was shining, so adults could enjoy a glass of Pimms in the sunshine. There were plenty of craft activities; decorating crowns, making Union Jack flags, making bunting and designing royal cakes. There was a face painter for the younger children; they all looked brilliant!
The bake off competition entries were all fantastic. The judge, Mrs. Angela Snow, had a very tough job choosing winners of the adults and children’s categories-so much so that we had to have two winners for each category! Prizes were a bottle of bubbly for the adults and a hamper for the kids. Once the winners had been announced, everyone enjoyed the cakes, making donations to the Rosemary Foundation. Well done to all of the bakers-there were some amazing entries. The freshly baked scones were very popular-thank you to all those who baked especially for the event.
Under 12 Category First Prize: Corgi-licious Jubilee – Miss Sienna Newland Standard Category First Prize: Triple Mess – Mrs. Ony Rogers
As well as the delicious food and drinks on offer, there were commemorative Jubilee mugs for sale which were very popular. Thank you to Morgan’s butchers for fulfilling our barbecue order, and Durleighmarsh Farm for their strawberries. Thank you also to everyone who helped on the day-from arranging flowers for the table decorations to washing up and making cups of tea-it was very much appreciated.
We hope everyone enjoyed the party, it was so great to see so many residents enjoying the sunshine and celebrating the Platinum Jubilee .
We are so thrilled to celebrate the platinum jubilee this year. We have a lot planned for the community, including face painting, BBQ, a bar, and a British Bake Off competition… so please, head over to book your FREE tickets and download the entry form for the Bake-Off!

You may have noticed some of the changes that have been made to the grounds in front of our new Village Hall. Cala Homes have removed the deep rooting laurel bushes that were installed temporarily during the sales phase, primarily due to non-compliance with the Planning permission plans but also to adhere to the regulations regarding permissible plants on and around an underground gas storage tank. We would like to make this area as attractive as the rest of the Village Hall and are looking at ways to make this area more appealing as well as usable for the community.
We welcome your ideas for this area. Please send to [email protected].

Thank you to everyone in the community that came out to participate in the Stroud Village Hall Easter Egg Hunt! What an amazing day it was with the sun shining and laughing happy children running all about the place. The children and parents joined together to search out the clues hidden around the estate and were well rewarded with a chocolate egg and picnic lunch at the very end. While the children played games, did Easter themed crafts and played games such as Giant Jenga, Giant Connect4 and the Egg & Spoon race (using tempting Cadbury Cream Eggs), the adults were able to enjoy a drink and catch-up with the neighbours. Please accept the trustees’ apologies for any inconvenience suffered and we are sure you will notice a difference when you next use the hall, especially from the new acoustics.
Have you seen we offer community lottery? Check our our page https://www.easthantslottery.co.uk/…/stroud-village… to secure your tickets now. There is also an offer on currently to win a £1000 Sainsburys gift voucher!
